RECIPROCITY

Reciprocity is a special provision under the International Reciprocal Agreement that allows members to have hours and contributions transferred to their Home Funds, when you temporarily work in another Jurisdiction.

  • The Outside Jurisdiction must be signed to the International Reciprocal Agreement in order for Home Funds to accept these contributions on your behalf.
  • A signed Reciprocal Authorization form must be submitted for each Outside Jurisdiction in which contributions were accepted for you.

As a member it is your responsibility to make sure you complete and submit reciprocal forms when working in another jurisdiction.

Reciprocal Form Instructions

  1. Contact the local union office in the area where you are working to request their fund office information (name, address, phone and fax numbers).
  2. Complete a seperate form for each fund office (ex. Pension, Health and Welfare, Annuity).
  3. Forms should be dated the 1st day of the month you began working in that area.
  4. Fax a copy of each form to the fund office in the area you are working.  It is recommended that you keep a copy of the form as well as proof of the fax going through.
  5.  Follow up with your home fund to ensure funds have been reciprocated.

Contact the union office or a business representative with any questions or concerns regarding reciprocity.
